HOTELS OFFER SIZZLING SUMMER RATES—Hollywood Beach hotels and resorts are offering great deals for the summer, so you can enjoy the Atlantic Ocean, breathe in the fresh sea air and spend less money than ever for a super room. You'll find many high-quality accommodations, including Superior Small Lodgings, resorts, hotels and vacation apartments with kitchenettes. ONLINE TRAVEL TRADE SECTION DEBUTS—A new Travel Trade section recently was launched on the VisitHollywoodFL.org website with "Pre- and Post-Cruise," "Meeting Planners" and "Getting Here" pages to assist travelers, tour operators and meeting planners with invaluable information on the destination. The "Pre- and Post-Cruise" page offers ideas on things to do and see in Hollywood and details on lodging properties. The "Meeting Planners" page features a variety of local hotels, restaurants and unique public venues suitable for group functions, with photos and details on each site. HOLLYWOOD'S SOCIAL CIRCLE WIDENS—The Hollywood Office of Tourism has expanded its global reach to include exposure on popular social networking websites Facebook and Twitter. Hollywood fans can now learn about local happenings on Facebook and share their comments, photos and videos. Twitter keeps users updated on the latest Hollywood news, upcoming events, celebrity sightings, hotel deals and restaurant specials.

"HOLLYWOOD REVEALED" IN PHOTO COLLECTION—Renowned fine art photographer Alan S. Maltz, named Florida's Official Fine Art Photographer by VISIT FLORIDA and Official Wildlife Photographer by the Wildlife Foundation of Florida, recently completed a comprehensive shoot in the City of Hollywood. With a keen appreciation of Hollywood’s natural beauty and visitor appeal, Maltz was excited for the City to be the subject of his most recent photo shoot. His breathtaking images capture the spirit and essence of our destination, from its many natural assets to its cultural and historical significance. The stunning "Hollywood Revealed" collection will be featured in the Hollywood Office of Tourism's new Vacation Planner and website redesign.

DOGS OF SUMMER AT ART AND CULTURE CENTER—The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood will present "The Dogs of Summer" festival June 20-21, 2009, at the ArtsPark at Young Circle to coincide with two dog-themed art exhibitions running at the Center June 19 - August 16, including "Tillamook Cheddar Mid-Career Retrospective 1999-2009." Tillamook "Tillie" Cheddar, a Brooklyn-based Jack Russell Terrier, is widely regarded as the world's pre-eminent canine artist. Tillie will make special appearances at the Center's opening reception June 19 and at "The Dogs of Summer," where she will demonstrate how she creates her expressionistic images. Other highlights include sidewalk art, children's activities, K-9 demonstrations, live music, pet-related presentations and a blessing of the animals. The second Center exhibition, "It's a Dog's Life," features contemporary artwork from the private collection of Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz. GEARING UP FOR A "SUPER" TIME—Hollywood is already looking forward to being an integral part of the South Florida community that will host the 2010 Super Bowl, Pro Bowl and Orange Bowl and their pre- and post-game celebrations. ENJOY CRAFT BEERS IN DOWNTOWN HOLLYWOOD—Specialty craft beers are enjoying popularity nationwide, and select Historic Downtown Hollywood restaurants are offering a number of different brews along with tasting events. Craft beer companies include Stone, Dogfish Head, Rogue, Left Hand, Shipyard, Avery, Brooklyn, Saranac and Sierra Nevada, with flavors such as blueberry, raspberry, cranberry, pumpkin and other seasonal flavors, and fusions of flavors that include pomegranate raspberry, lime cactus and Tuscan orange grapefruit. Lola's On Harrison offers a tasting event on the second Wednesday of every month from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring a sampling of four different craft beers and appetizers for $15 per person.
