Hollywood Launching New Beach/Downtown Trolley Service
Community Launch Event set for Friday, April 30, 2010

HOLLYWOOD, FL– Beginning April 30th, the new Hollywood Trolley will make getting around Hollywood Beach and Downtown a breeze. Visitors and residents can board the trolley at more than a dozen convenient locations near Hollywood’s major activity and parking areas and explore the many things to see and do in Hollywood. From dining and cultural activities in historic Downtown Hollywood; to exploring nature at Anne Kolb Nature Center and North Beach Park; to oceanfront dining, shopping and recreation along Hollywood’s famous beachfront Broadwalk, you’ll see why Hollywood has been named an All-America City and one of Fodor’s Best Beaches for families.

The Hollywood Trolley will begin operating with a community celebration and launch event on Friday, April 30 from 5:00-10:00 p.m. at the Trolley Transfer Station located in the parking area adjacent to the Maurice Connell Parking Garage, 350 Johnson Street, on Hollywood Beach. Hollywood Mayor Peter Bober and members of the City Commission will be on hand at 6:30 p.m. to welcome trolley riders and participate in a trolley treasure hunt. The event will feature music and prizes for treasure hunt participants.

The Hollywood Trolley provides a new public transportation service to improve mobility, enhance the visitor experience and ease parking demand and traffic congestion. This new service is funded through a Public Transport Service Development Grant from the Florida Department of Transportation with matching funds from the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency and its funding partners: City of Hollywood, Broward County, Children's Services Council and South Broward Hospital District.
