SAILORS POINT

HOLLYWOOD, FL
- Life is a breeze for outdoor enthusiasts in Hollywood, where serene lake sailing is one of many water activities for visitors of all ages.

Sailors Point, a magnet for sailing buffs, offers open sailing on Saturdays in this picturesque seaside destination ideally located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

Sailors Point is tucked behind the charming historic houses of the Hollywood Lakes section, the city's oldest neighborhood, at the edge of North Lake, where the southeast breezes from the Atlantic Ocean make for favorable sailing conditions.

Run by the Hollywood Sailing Club to teach and promote sailing, Sailors Point offers Sunfish rentals to experienced sailors from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The rental fee is $15.

Water enthusiasts can choose from a vast array of recreational activities in the beautiful Atlantic Ocean or along the scenic Intracoastal Waterway, including boating, jet-skiing, windsurfing, diving, snorkeling, fishing, charter yacht services, or simply swimming and sunning on Hollywood's award-winning Blue Wave beaches.

On the beachside of the Broadwalk, guests can now enjoy parasailing adventures offered daily, weather permitting. Parasail high above the Atlantic Ocean supported by the wind while being launched and pulled by a speedboat. Ride solo, or take a tandem ride for two.  Guests looking for an experience on or in the water can take advantage of boat tours, deep-sea fishing, kite surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, or kayaking.

A natural oasis in a thriving metropolis, Hollywood's rich water culture extends beyond the Atlantic and the Intracoastal to encompass a 1,500-acre mangrove ecosystem that can be explored by paddle, bike or foot. Unforgettable eco-adventure options include full-moon kayak excursions and nighttime sea turtle walks.

Distinctive natural and cultural assets, Old Florida charm and big-city sophistication come together to give Hollywood a unique character and visitor appeal. The eco-friendly environment accommodates pedestrians and bicyclists, and includes the 2.5-mile Broadwalk, Florida's only completely auto-free oceanfront promenade. Hollywood Beach is home to free live entertainment and heritage festivals, quaint retro shops, and a variety of waterfront dining options, from elegant restaurants to charming sidewalk cafés and casual beach bars.

Hollywood's inventory of more than 5,000 hotel rooms ranges from AAA-rated luxury resorts and boutique-style hotels to quaint seaside inns, villas, motels and Superior Small Lodging (SSL)-certified properties with all the comforts of home. "Hot deals" offered by local lodging operators - including special golf, spa and romantic getaway packages - are available on the Hollywood Office of Tourism (HOT) website, where the best available online rate is guaranteed.
