WHILE HARBORING NEW DESTINATION TO VISIT

All America City Hooks and Reels Water Enthusiasts With Its Close Proximity and Competitive Offers During Annual Boat Show in Neighboring City

HOLLYWOOD, FL - With a crew of visitors lined up to submerge Fort Lauderdale for the 49th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, October 30-November 3, the City of Hollywood is in ship shape to host exhibitors, anglers, boating and water sports enthusiasts.

Boasting 10 miles of waterway and seven miles of pristine Blue Wave beaches, Hollywood affords boat show visitors with an abundance of on-and–off-the-water nautical activities.  From sunset cruises on the Intracoastal Waterway showcasing multi-million dollar estates with their own private yachts, to the catch of the day at local eateries on the Hollywood Broadwalk or in historic Downtown Hollywood, this revitalized destination offers new and interactive venues and value-added offers for leisure and business travelers.

Less than 10 miles from the Boat Show, Hollywood’s Superior Small Lodging establishments and signature hotels and resorts provide an array of options for every budget. With more than 150 properties, many located on the beach, boaters can choose to stay in Hollywood and cruise to Fort Lauderdale for the show.

Sample accommodations include a three-night stay at Grenier’s on the Beach beginning at $70 per night. At the award-winning Superior Small Lodging Ocean Inn located steps from the beach, rates begin at $79 per night. Marine Villas offers Deco-boutique style studios suites with full kitchen and direct ocean views beginning at $99 per night with a minimum three-night stay.

Where to go, what to do

With where to stay checked off the list, what to do looms in the mind.  The revitalized City of Hollywood offers plenty of activities from beach play to eco-friendly excursions to new dining and entertainment experiences.

On the beachside of the Broadwalk, guests can now enjoy parasailing adventures offered daily, weather permitting. Parasail high above the Atlantic Ocean supported by the wind while being launched and pulled by a speedboat. Ride solo, or take a tandem ride for two.  Guests looking for an experience on or in the water can take advantage of boat tours, deep-sea fishing, kite surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, or kayaking.

Appropriate for boat show exhibitors and attendees, take a half day off and go out on a deep-sea fishing trip in the Atlantic Ocean or scuba dive in one of three reefs — Cruz del Sur, Tenneco Tower Deep, or Tenneco Tower Shallow — and encounter species of fish over or near these artificial reefs.  The hotel concierge can assist in planning and coordinating these activities or visit Hollywood’s Web site for charter companies offering these services.

If in search of a green or eco-friendly activity, Hollywood North Beach Park, West Lake Park, and John U. Lloyd State Park is the only place where a city, county and state park converge, providing 2,000 acres of uninterrupted preserved land.  At West Lake Park, take a nature walk at Anne Kolb Nature Center or a kayak tour of the Intracoastal and explore the protected wildlife of South Florida.

After a day of activity, a meal may be what the captain ordered.  During Boat Show week, visitors can indulge in the many epicurean experiences Hollywood has in store, including Greater Fort Lauderdale’s Dine Out Lauderdale program. Unlike many restaurants in Fort Lauderdale that do not offer the program during Boat Show week, Hollywood’s restaurants invite patrons to indulge in a three-course pre-fixed meal at $35 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Hollywood restaurants participating in this program include: Aizia and Rivals Waterfront Sports Grille at The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa, Elements Bistro at Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach, Fulvio’s 1900, and Lola’s on Harrison.

A sample Dine Out Lauderdale menu at the acclaimed Lola’s on Harrison features a choice of three appetizers, three entrees, and two desserts.  Begin with a Salmon Tartar of hand cut Chilean salmon in a sesame-lemon vinaigrette with cassava crackers, red topiko caviar, black sesame seeds, and jalapeno Chili oil. For the main course, Lola’s famous Coca BBQ Beef Ribs, a slow roasted center cut beef ribs basted in Coca Cola BBQ sauce with buttermilk onion rings, and creamed yellow corn is a favorite dish.  Dessert tops off this epicurean experience with a sinful Warm “Rogue Chocolate Stout” Cake with chocolate stout frosting and chocolate sauce.

After dinner, live up Hollywood’s nightlife at one of its many hot spots.  From Spice-Resto Lounge, where guests dance on tables, and Mix Ultra Lounge, showcasing some of South Florida’s hottest DJ’s, to Nikki Marina at The Westin Diplomat, the seen-and-be-seen place on the beach, late nights in the city turn into a sexy and sultry way to celebrate Boat Show weekend.
