World Down Syndrome Day
World Down Syndrome Day is observed on March 21st. On this day individuals with Down syndrome, their families and supporters worldwide, organize and participate in events and activities to raise public awareness, advocate for their rights, and promote acceptance and inclusion. During ArtWalk, several businesses will be showcasing artwork created by artists with Down Syndrome.
The date March 21 (321) was chosen to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. In 2011, the United Nations General Assembly designated March 21st as World Down Syndrome Day.
Impulse Art - Showtime at 8pm: Fusion of music and painting (live art performance). Artist Daniel Pontet will be painting with his feet inspired by the rhythm of drumming guided by Jeff Lee, Evan Kline, and Adrian Jones. Bring a drum and join us at a special drum circle. March 21: Muzart is celebrating World Down Syndrome Day to raise awareness for a better quality of life. "Everyone deserves to be happy." Our featured artist: Joey Lipstz. Joey is an artist who uses canvas, acrylic paint and vibrant colros. He enjoys using a variety of forms, shapes, sponges, stencils, utensils, cardboard and anything he can find to help him with is finishing touches. He paints and creates beautiful hearts, abstracts and self portraits demonstrating through art his love for people. Joey also takes pictures where he enjoys manipulating them into his own interpretation of designs and colors.
